Welcome to the first newsletter for 1999. 1 trust that you had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year, and have been able to make the most of the great weather we have had over summer.
The year ahead will be challenging for the Club, in terms of maintaining the current membership level and encouraging people to join. This will of course be helped by my forecast that a 3 to 4 metre snow base will form during May, and will hold until this time next year. Perhaps more realistically, there will be a lot of people who will breathe a big sigh of relief even if it is just an average snow year.
For those of you who weren't at the AGM in November, the newly elected committee is as follows:
| All numbers 64-9- | ||
| President | Grant McTavish | 828 9498 |
| Immediate past President | Chris Fotherby | 535 6301 |
| Secretary | Bruce Govenlock | 360 0986 |
| Treasurer | Ivan Findlay | 579 5647 |
| Club Captain | Natalie Meek | 473 5353 |
| Temp Booking Officer | Barbara Cloonan | 817 2684 |
| Committee | Kevin Frost | 292 4845 |
| Ross Sutherland | 425 7217 |
Chris Fotherby becomes the Immediate Past President, and I would like to take the opportunity in thanking Chris for his fine efforts as President during the last two years. Barbara is the temporary Booking Officer until another very able bodied person can take her place. Unfortunately, Barbara cannot juggle her full time teacher training and bringing up a family with the role of the Booking Officer.
If you are interested in doing this very rewarding and fulfilling role, then please contact me and I will arrange for Barbara to apply her teaching skills on you to ensure a smooth transition.
I look forward to working with the Committee and the Club Members in the years ahead. If you have any suggestions or queries, please do not hesitate in contacting any Committee Member.
It was decided at the AGM to hold the 1999 subscription rates at the 1998 level, and as an incentive for people to Join, to set the Joining fee for 1999 to zero. The subscription notices will be sent out with the next newsletter at the end of April and will be due at the end of May.
Looking to the year ahead, the Committee has set some proposed Club event dates. Each date will be confirmed in the Newsletter immediately prior to the event. If you have any suggestions for Club activities, then please contact the Committee.
