April 2003

AGM, Work Party

The AGM which was to be held Saturday March 22, 2003 didn't happen because there was not a quorum. It has been rescheduled for May 4th at 4:00pm at St Chad's Church hall. Same old venue, same format. Please bring a salad or desert. The club will provide meat and some wine.

The work party was a success. The weather was fine all weekend. The Saturday was spent getting all the wood up to the chairlift platform, up the chair and into the pool. On Sunday we worked at National Park. Some guttering was directed to the street, some painting was done and a new garden was created to the footpath.

There have been some names put forward for committee positions which is really great. So far there has been no interest in being president. This a great time to be President. With almost half the year gone it will only be an 18 month term if you do it for 2 seasons. There is no major work outstanding. Set the aganda, run the meetings and sign the cheques.

My Last Newsletter

This will be my last newsletter as I am standing down as Club Captain. Time for someone else to write the newsletters. I will be available to help with the web site and want to set up some electronic booking system should the new booking officer be on the Internet.

Skiing Start Dates

The Mt Ruapehu says Happy Valley opens 31 May 2003, Turoa opens 20 June 2003 and Whakapapa opens 27 June 2003. Ken Ring from Predict weather says "snow should arrive in force around May 25th, for the beginning of what looks like a bumper season which will go right til November this year. A good time to go down will be Friday August 15th onward, because that's the beginning of a sunny week after a nice big snow dump."
